GitHub Pages & Static Deployment.

Take a static project from your repository to a working website.

01 / START WITH THE PROBLEM

A useful solution starts with context.

GitHub Pages suits sites whose pages can be served as static files. I help decide between a user site and a project site, because their URL paths affect asset references and navigation. Deployment can use a publishing branch or an Actions workflow. A framework project must support static export; a server-side Node application cannot run as an arbitrary backend on Pages. We test links and direct page visits, configure HTTPS where supported and document how the next update reaches the live site. If you own a custom domain, DNS setup is included only when agreed and access is available.

02 / THE SCOPE

What I can help with

  • User-site versus project-site planning
  • Branch or Actions deployment configuration
  • Static export, asset paths and direct-route checks
  • Custom-domain and HTTPS guidance
03 / BEFORE WE START

Bring the problem, not a finished specification.

Share the current situation and your priorities. We’ll identify missing information together before agreeing to build.

  • A repository you own or can administer
  • A static site or exportable project
  • Domain access if a custom address is requested

You complete sensitive verification yourself. Never send passwords, PINs, tokens or OTPs in a message.

04 / HOW IT WORKS

A clear sequence, with review built in.

  1. 01

Review the site and select a supported publishing method.

  2. 02

Prepare the static output and asset paths.

  3. 03

Configure Pages and publish the agreed branch or workflow.

  4. 04

Verify navigation, HTTPS and direct page visits.

  5. 05

Document the next update and rollback process.

05 / THE HANDOVER

What you receive

  • A published static site when account permissions allow
  • Deployment configuration and update instructions
  • A list of any backend hosting needs

The final checklist is agreed in the scope. If an external decision or dependency prevents completion, the status and the next available step are made clear.

06 / FEES, WITHOUT SURPRISES

Pricing & running costs

Quoted after reviewing the repository. Domain registration and any separate backend host are additional costs.

Before starting, we agree what is included, who pays third-party charges and what would require a revised quote. No fixed price or processing timeline is assumed.

Important limitations & privacy

GitHub Pages cannot host arbitrary server-side Node processes. Platform limits and account permissions apply; public files must not contain credentials or private data.

Only necessary information is requested for the agreed task. Sharing, access and document retention are discussed before handling sensitive material. Read the privacy notes.

07 / GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you get in touch

Can I deploy Next.js?

Yes if the application is configured for static export and avoids server-only features.

Can I use my domain?

Yes where DNS access and platform verification allow it.

How do I update it?

The handover explains the exact build and publishing workflow chosen for your repository.
